About Maxine

Fine Artist, Maxine Scherb was born near Los Mochis, México in january 1948. Daughter of a Swiss father and a Mexican mother. She was interested in art since a very young age and when she was 17 years old, started oil painting.

Maxine, has drawn much of her influence from the simplistic natural beauty of rural life. Having lived for her entire childhood and adolescence in a provincial setting, the purity of human emotions she witnessed, from sorrow to tranquility to elation, has never left her or her artwork. Though the gamut of human expression can be found anywhere that people live and work, there is such a poignance and essence to the lives of the country's most humble peoples that she captures in every piece she creates.

She was self didactic for many years, and since 1981 she has studied for temporary periods in San Diego, California with Sebastian Capella, artist and portrait painter reknown worldwide.

Each painting reveals feelings, which are the most important feature for Maxine. Her brush strokes give the impression of being impregnated of the ambience in her personages, and most of all, the messages of love, tenderness and dedication to work that her paintings reflect.

Nowadays Maxine dedicates her time to her paintings, which subjects include Mexico's scenery and humble people, landscapes and portraits.
Her portfolio of portraits include important business men and women, families and children.
